Recycle your old mobile phones

The Fairtrade Foundation has entered into partnership with Weee Recycle Mobiles,a company that recycles old mobile phone handsets.  For every phone received, the company makes a minimum donation of £2 to the Foundation helping us raise more money to help with our work. Weee Recycle Mobiles is registered with the Environment Agency and adheres to their WEEE directive (Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment Directive).

Why should we recycle phones?

Mobile phones are filling UK landfill sites at an alarming rate; currently around 80% of mobile phone handsets end up in landfill sites where batteries and other hazardous materials often leach into the soil and ground water systems. With the majority of people upgrading to a new handset every 12-18 months many households have several old unused handsets simply gathering dust.

Where do I send my phone?

Post your phone and charger (if you have it) to FREEPOST WEEE Recycle Mobiles.  Please write 'Fairtrade Foundation' on the reverse of the envelope.

If you would like a freepost envelope sent to you please call 0845 0944734 and quote 'Fairtrade Foundation'.
