Producer partner tour


Producer tour 2008Fairtrade Fortnight is a great opportunity for our producer partners to see first-hand how people are spreading the word about Fairtrade in the UK. It's also a great opportunity for you to meet them and hear how Fairtrade is changing lives in their communities. We are pleased to welcome producer representatives to the UK during Fairtrade Fortnight to share their experiences of Fairtrade.

The following producer representatives were in the UK during Fairtrade Fortnight:

  • Bernard Ranaweera, president of the Small Organic Farmers Association, Sri Lanka (SOFA)
  • Hamadou Nouhou and Oumarou Gadjere, technical director and board member of Cameroon Cotton Producers Organisation (OPCC)
  • Arsene Baperma, technician, WOUOL dried fruit cooperative, Burkina Faso
  • Cornelius Lynch, banana farmer, Windward Islands Farmers Association (WINFA), St Lucia
  • Rajah Banerjee, owner and manager, Makaibari Tea Estate, India

The producer representatives had a packed itinerary and visited the following regions: Northern Ireland, West Scotland, Wales, Liverpool, Shropshire, Cornwall, Devon, Dorset, Kent, East Sussex, Surrey and London.

In addition, the Scottish Fair Trade Forum and Fair Trade Wales also hosted producer partner tours.
