Celebrate Father's Day with a Fairtrade gift

                                                                                                                     19 June 2009

That special day for fathers is here again, a chance for all you sons and daughters to show your thanks for the taxi driver, bank and biggest fan, better known as Dad. Sunday 21 June is Father’s Day and the Fairtrade Foundation would like to introduce a number of perfect gifts.

Fairtrade is helping fathers in developing countries support their families by securing a better deal for farmers and workers. Fairtrade products include cocoa, coffee, tea, cotton and beer, all lending themselves to a great collection of gift ideas.

From pants to funky shirts, People Tree, winner of the Ethical Fashion and Accessory Award at The Observer Ethical Awards 2009, are using Fairtrade cotton to produce perfect gifts for any fashionable dad. The cotton comes from Fairtrade producers in India and uses natural dyes to ensure ecologically sound, top quality garments. People Tree like to use the little shoots to roots mantra, providing the garments as shoots whilst at the same time working deep down through the roots, improving the lives and environment of the farmers in developing countries who produce them.

Show your support for Fairtrade and thank your father this weekend by buying him a Fairtrade gift. Listed below are just a few examples of Fairtrade products suitable for your dad:
