Guidelines for product packaging materials and promotional materials

The FAIRTRADE Mark is the exclusive property of Fairtrade Labelling Organisations (FLO) International and internationally registered as an EU registered trademark (No. 0026 06 994. UK national registrations no. 2477914 & World Intellectual Property (WIPO) no. 806 431).

As a certification label the FAIRTRADE Mark may be:

  • used in direct relation to products that are certified in accordance with Fairtrade standards.
  • reproduced on printed promotional materials to encourage people to purchase Fairtrade certified products.

Before printing your packaging or promotional materials, you must receive written approval from the FAIRTRADE Mark Management team, by submitting your artwork to artwork@fairtrade.org.uk.

Before downloading the Mark to reproduce, you must read and follow our FAIRTRADE Mark Manuals:

  • Campaigner and Supporter Promotional Materials Manual (non commercial use only) – please download here if you are producing a printed promotional document, website or advert for non-commercial purposes.
  • Licensee Promotional Materials Manual (commercial use only - for companies that have signed a Licence Agreement with the Fairtade Foundation)) - this is currently being written. If you are a licensee wishing to create promotional materials, please download the Campaigner and Supporter Promotional Materials Manual and refer to all sections except 14 – 17.
  • Licensee Packaging Materials Manual * (commercial use only - for companies that have signed a Licence Agreement with the Fairtade Foundation) - please email manuals@fairtrade.org.uk to request the Packaging Manual, stating your company name, contact details and licensee reference code.     

 

* If you are producing packaging artwork a product application must be approved by the Commercial Relations team AND a signed valid Licence Agreement must be in place covering the product(s) in question, before the use of the Mark can be approved.
