The FAIRTRADE Mark is changing
From 1 September 2008, the international FAIRTRADE Mark will start to appear on Fairtrade certified products and all materials produced by the Fairtrade Foundation. The current UK Mark will still be seen on existing Fairtrade product packaging and promotional materials as the transition takes place.
Why?
This is an exciting part of our strategy to scale up both the impact and size of the Fairtrade market in the UK and create a stronger, harmonised Fairtrade movement internationally. Using the smaller, simpler Mark will:
- Allow licensees to market Fairtrade products in the UK and other European countries without the need to change packaging
- Allow shoppers to recognise Fairtrade certified products easily regardless of which country they are in
- More closely align the promotion and communication work of the Fairtrade Foundation and supporters in the UK with partners across FLO (Fairtrade Labelling Organisations International)
What do I need to do?
You can continue to use existing promotional materials with the current FAIRTRADE Mark (with the text box). When you update those materials or create new ones, please use the new Mark.
