Artworker - £25,825 per annum at first scale point
Reporting to the Head of Creative Services, the holder of this new post will work with the Foundation’s production managers and external creative agency to produce artwork to a print-ready stage for a wide range of promotional materials. The postholder will execute high-quality, differentiated creative solutions to persuade, influence and inform, helping the Foundation to reach its objective of tipping the balance of trade in favour of small-scale farmers.
You’ll need demonstrable technical knowledge with the full Adobe CS3/4 Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign) as well as a solid understanding of systems and procedures around design and print processes. You will need a proven track record of producing creative design work, with excellent layout and typesetting skills and a critical eye in terms of accuracy and attention to detail. The ability to manage your time to deliver to tight deadlines and excellent teamworking skills are essential. An interest in web technology including some proficiency in Flash and basic HTML would be advantageous.

Temporary Head of Creative Services - £34,089 per annum, pro rata at first scale point
6-month fixed term contract with possibility of extension
Reporting to the Marketing Director, you will oversee the production of all the Foundation’s internally generated creative materials and will ensure consistency and creative excellence in all outputs. Key tasks will include developing and maintaining direct communication channels to ensure the Foundation’s key messages reach its various audiences; guiding the day-to-day management of the Foundation’s website and social networks; managing and inspiring a team of four staff and various external agencies to produce high quality creative output; and building structure and content of the Foundation’s creative asset library.
You will need experience of leading a creative unit either in a busy marketing team or in an agency, with strong technical knowledge of on- and off-line creative development processes and experience of digital communications management. Strong line management and stakeholder management skills and experience are essential, as is proven delivery of managing impactful creative output. You will need to be highly organised and results-focused; commitment to Fairtrade and development issues is desirable.

Commercial Director - circa £50,000 per annum
Our Commercial Director will lead the large and talented group of people that forms the Foundation’s Commercial Relations team to develop relationships with commercial licensees and potential partners to ensure delivery against the Foundation’s ambitious commercial targets. The postholder will also be a member of the Foundation’s Senior Management Team, contributing to the organisation’s strategic direction.
Working in a stimulating and challenging environment, you will be able to demonstrate that you are a skilled and talented leader, adept at engaging people at all levels and with the ability to negotiate at the highest level in business. You will have a track record of influencing senior decision makers including Boards of Directors, Chief Executive Officers and Managing Directors of leading companies. You will need to relish the challenge of persuading companies to engage in Fairtrade, and so deepening their commitment to producers in developing countries.

Head of Directorate - £40,287 per annum at first scale point
The holder of this new post will be central in helping achieve the Foundation’s strategic goals, through ensuring good planning and project management across the organisation. Reporting to the Deputy Executive Director (DED), the role will require close collaboration with Directors across the Foundation to ensure achievement of financial, quality and performance targets. The role holder will also have ownership of the Foundation’s strategic roadmap, ensuring that the delivery of major projects is on track; generate the annual schedule of business for the Foundation’s Board and Senior Management Team; and will champion excellence in project management throughout the Foundation.
Applicants will need excellent project management skills and proven experience of recognised project management and evaluation techniques. Strong line management experience and excellent communication and stakeholder management skills are also essential. All applicants should have experience of working in international development, and knowledge of Fairtrade is desirable.

Campaigns Officers (two roles available, one focusing on Fairtrade Towns, one focusing on Fairtrade Schools) - £22,210 per annum at first scale point
The Foundation’s Campaigns team focuses on encouraging all sectors of the UK community (faith groups, schools, universities, workplaces and towns) to increase awareness and availability of Fairtrade. The Foundation is seeking two Campaigns Officers to support its Fairtrade Towns and Fairtrade Schools Campaign Managers in delivering specific Fairtrade campaigns. The roles will include co-ordinating applications, communications and enquiries from campaigners, and helping to build and maintain relationships with stakeholders.
Both roles require experience of grassroots campaigning within an NGO environment, excellent administrative skills and experience, and strong communication skills including an excellent telephone manner. You will need to have good team working skills, be organised and methodical, and have a passion for, and belief in, the power of grassroots campaigning to effect change.
Candidates applying for the Towns role will need experience of working with campaign networks; an understanding of how local authorities operate would be an advantage. Candidates applying for the Schools role will need experience of, and an interest in further developing their skills in, campaigning in the education sector; experience of working in educational environments would be helpful.

Volunteering
Some general points about volunteering with the Fairtrade Foundation:
- We ask for a minimum commitment of one day per week for three months for general volunteering. Some positions require more days.
- We provide luncheon vouchers valued at £4 per day if working five or more hours in that day and refund off-peak travel expenses (maximum £10 per day) on production of a receipt/ticket.
- The type of work available is rarely suitable for volunteers to carry out from home.
- We regret that we are unable to assist non-UK residents who are planning to volunteer during a short stay in the UK with visa applications, finding accommodation etc.
