Human Resources Officer (21 hours per week), £25,825 per annum, pro rata at first scale point

The mission of the HR team is to recruit, motivate and retain high calibre employees to enable the Fairtrade Foundation to achieve its broader organisational goals. The holder of this part-time post will share responsibilities for officer-level functions with another part-time Officer.  Both postholders will be expected to cover the full range of officer-level duties where needed, but it is expected that this post will take responsibility for work in recruitment and selection, reward and benefits (including preparing the Foundation’s monthly payroll instruction and liaising with the external payroll agency) and co-ordinating grievance and disciplinary processes.  Areas to be shared by both roles include providing day-to-day first line HR support to staff, updating the HR sections of the Foundation’s intranet and website, and general HR administration.

You will need to be qualified to Certificate in Personnel Practice level or have gained equivalent knowledge through experience; have experience of co-ordinating and administering end-to-end recruitment and selection processes; experience of compiling payroll instructions and administering benefits; and experience of providing first-line day-to-day HR support to staff and managers.  You will need experience of providing effective administration across the full remit of HR tasks, as well as excellent teamworking skills, a proven high standard of numeracy and good IT skills with experience of using Word, Excel and databases.

Volunteering


Some general points about volunteering with the Fairtrade Foundation:

  • We ask for a minimum commitment of one day per week for three months for general volunteering. Some positions require more days.
  • We provide luncheon vouchers valued at £4 per day if working five or more hours in that day and refund off-peak travel expenses (maximum £10 per day) on production of a receipt/ticket.
  • The type of work available is rarely suitable for volunteers to carry out from home.
  • We regret that we are unable to assist non-UK residents who are planning to volunteer during a short stay in the UK with visa applications, finding accommodation etc.
