Volunteer required to support the Commercial Partnerships team to correspond with Fairtrade Producer Networks and smallholder farmer cooperatives in Palestine, and to translate documents to support the sharing of information.
Fairtrade Foundation is looking for a pro-active Arabic speaking volunteer to assist the Commercial Partnerships team to correspond and translate communications and documents from and between Fairtrade Foundation, smallholder farmers in Palestine, and Producer Network Regional Coordinators and Liaison Officers.
The volunteer will need to be fluent in both English and Arabic, with good knowledge of written Arabic. The volunteer will need to assist in the writing of correspondence by translating from English to Arabic and Arabic to English, translating Arabic documents to English and, just very occasionally, supporting on calls.
The role would be ideal for someone with an interest in International Development and who is looking to gain experience, as it provides excellent opportunities to learn about Fairtrade and farming communities and development programmes.
The role is flexible and, subject to demand, will require around 2 – 3 hours translation per month. You are able to volunteer remotely, with possible quarterly visits to the office if required.
We refund travel expenses (maximum £15/day, preferably off-peak) on presentation of a receipt or ticket, and actual expenses incurred for lunch up to the value of £5 on presentation of receipts, if volunteering for more than four hours a day or over the lunch period.
We regret that we are unable to assist non-UK residents who are planning to volunteer during a short stay in the UK with visa applications, finding accommodation, etc.
The Fairtrade Foundation is committed to equal opportunities and welcomes applications from all sections of the community.
