Fairtrade Friday

On the last Friday of each month, we come together with companies and supporters to bring attention to the farmers and workers around the world, in some of the poorest countries, who grow the food we eat and make the clothes we wear.

Get involved with August Fairtrade Friday

Summer 2019 is coming to an end, which means that back-to-school season is upon us. From new pencil cases and school uniform to packed lunches, it's a busy time of the year! But don't forget to think about the people behind the products. Behind every banana and chocolate bar and cotton polo shirt is a farmer who deserves decent pay for their work so they can support themselves and their families.

Every time you purchase a product with the FAIRTRADE Mark you are helping to get farmers a better deal. This means that they can make their own decisions, control their future and lead the dignified life everyone deserves.

Fairtrade lunchbox inspiration

This month we've partnered with Waitrose to give away two £30 vouchers so you can fill your lunchbox with Fairtrade goodies and start the new school year on the right foot. Waitrose is a proud supporter of Fairtrade, and in 2007 became the first supermarket in the UK to sell Fairtrade bananas exclusively. Alongside bananas, you can expect to find other Fairtrade products on their shelves, such as chocolate, soft drinks from Karma Cola and coffee (to help parents to get back into those early starts!).

Making a conscious decision to buy Fairtrade products means that farmers and producers get a fair price for their work and the Fairtrade Premium ensures that they also have the means to invest back into their community.

The competition will run on Twitter and Facebook from Friday 30 August to Monday 2 September 2019.
