When you choose Fairtrade, you’re choosing the world you want
Choosing Fairtrade means being true to your values, being connected to a like-minded community and creating positive change throughout our world.
Fairtrade achieves this by rallying a global community of millions – farmers and workers, supply chain partners, brands, retailers, shoppers, schools, government – to pay fair prices and uphold fair production standards and practices.
This community empowers vulnerable farmers and workers around the world to improve their living standards, the welfare of their local community and our shared environment.
Trustees are crucial for the success of Fairtrade, and now – at the beginning of our new five-year strategic period – there has never been a more important time to be a part of Fairtrade’s leadership.
We have two vacancies to join our Board as Trustees and are seeking high calibre individuals who will help support our talented workforce in tackling the urgent challenges faced by farmers and workers.
Our first vacancy is for Treasurer. As we embark on our new strategy, and emerge from the pandemic, we are looking to grow our position in the market, and drive an ambitious growth strategy. To that end, we are seeking an exceptional Trustee with experience in financial leadership at a senior level. Charity finance experience is not essential but would be a valuable asset.
For our second Trustee vacancy, we’re particularly interested to hear from those with a background in one or more of the following areas:
- HR and safeguarding
- Technology and digital transformation
- The environment
- Programme design and implementation
- Public affairs
- The Fairtrade grassroots campaign
At Fairtrade we’re committed to the safeguarding and protection of children and vulnerable adults in our work. We will do everything possible to ensure that only those who are suitable to work in this environment are recruited to support us. Therefore, for these roles, a basic DBS check will be needed.
The Fairtrade Foundation is an equal opportunities employer.
Our continued aim is to increase diversity across the organisation, including within our Board, so that we are diverse in our ideas, background, experience, outlook and views.
We particularly welcome applications from ethnically diverse candidates, LGBTQ+ candidates and from candidates with disabilities, because we would like to increase the representation of these groups at this level. We want to do this because we know greater diversity will lead to greater results for farmers and workers around the world.
We understand some people may not apply for positions unless they tick every box. But if you’re passionate about joining us, are willing to commit the time, and think you have much of what we’re looking for, we’d love to hear from you!
